One of our most popular bespoke offerings is our lid only service.
Too often older manhole covers get broken or waste away over time and they need replacing. We advise our customers they have two options for replacement of a damaged lid.
New Complete Cover & Frame
A new complete cover and frame is the suggested route because you get a complete new unit which we know will be load rated and will fit into the frame properly.
This will involve taking the old cover and frame away, bedding the new one in on some cement and making good around the edges.
Lid Only for Existing Frame
The more preferred route for a lot of people — just a new lid for your existing frame. This can be done if you give us measurements to the mm on width, length and height, plus details on the corners and an image.

To make your lid, we need precise measurements from your existing frame:
Inside width of the frame to the mm
Inside length of the frame to the mm
Depth of the frame recess the lid sits into
An image of the existing cover and frame helps enormously
Weight Loading Needed
We can make these lids to meet your size needed and add reinforcement if needed. We cannot offer them a loading rating because they are going into an existing frame that we do not have control over. The lid can be made to your spec and be able to take car loading.
*Pricing note: £240 + VAT is based on our most common (80%+) size of 600×450mm or 600×600mm. The pricing fluctuates a little based on the corners needed and loading / steel thickness required.
